webJobs introduces video resumes for your job board

Video resumes are catching on like wildfire. Now your job board can be ahead of the curve with a great new feature to allow video resumes to be included in your site.

What are video resumes?

Video resumes provide job seekers a way to showcase their abilities through a video rather than the traditional resume. Since many households now have high quality webcams available, employers are starting to accept video resumes for many of their job ads. This allows people to put a face to the paper, and show off their personality and capabilities in a creative way.

How do they work?

We put a lot of thought into how video resumes would work. After doing our research, we decided to allow your users to submit a video embed tag from any popular video sharing site (such as YouTube). Many major job boards such as Jobster are handling video resumes the same way.

This works great for two reasons. First, your hosting provider doesn’t need any special system requirements to convert the video to a file format that can be played through a Flash player. YouTube handles that part for you. Second, job seekers are likely to personalize their video resume for your site. The videos can lead to backlinks or your site being mentioned, providing a new traffic stream for you.

How does this help me?

Our job board software is already advanced enough to keep up with the big guys. This new addition will really give you the extra edge you need to compete. Unlike your competition, you can provide job seekers and employers with a feature that many job boards don’t even have yet. It’s just one more great way webJobs helps distinguish your site from competitors.

I am really looking forward to this latest release, it looks like WebScribble is giving site owners such as myself all of the bells and whistles to stand up to the likes of Monster and traditional boards. Keep it up and please let us know when we should be expecting 3.2 to be released, I would like for JobsDirectUSA.com to be one of the first sites to feature the latest version.

Thanks! There’s a few more blog posts coming with more features (we’re not done just yet). We’re expecting the release late this month, probably after Christmas.

    Hi Alexey,

Are there any new themes? and when can we expect a new blog post in regards to new features for 3.2.

    Thanks
    Gary

It would really be a great feature, exactly what I’ll need. Would it be possible to be able to post several videos? For example one for resume, and another for showcasing a demo reel?
What about getting the video from youtube as mentioned, but also vimeo or other third party ? (possibly HD content too)

I’ll surely buy 3.2 as soon as it gets out if it has the right feature set for what I need, your script looks really good in all the other areas.

    Thanks :)

I forgot to mention this, but what about a search result page showing only the videos for easy viewing for the employers?

All of the webJobs 3.2 features (and related blog posts) can be found at: http://www.webscribble.com/blog/tag/webjobs-3-2/

The video resume feature has a textbox for embed codes. You can paste multiple embed codes, although we really only designed one video to be embedded. It can be embedded from Youtube, Vimeo, or any other popular video sharing site.

The search page doesn’t show videos at the moment, only when you view the job seeker’s account.
