In the signs and flyers plugin, we now include a QR code with each ad. This gets printed when the flyer is made. Your customers can post these around when they’re trying to sell an item. Prospective buyers can use their cell phone to scan in these QR codes, which automatically bring up your site after they’re scanned. This is a great and easy way for people to get to an ad without writing down a long URL. With our Mobile Plugin, the integration is even nicer!

We’ve also added a CAPTCHA feature to all critical forms which can be enabled/disabled in the admin area. This prevents spammers from joining your site using fake information and spamming your members. This feature uses the popular reCAPTCHA service offered by Google.

The next version of webClassifieds will feature a “Share this” button. When click, a box will pop up to allow members to share the ad to over a dozen different places such as email, Facebook, Linkedin, and much more. Members now can easily email and recommend ads right from your site, and have the ability to also send it to many popular social networks as well.

Bulk uploading ads is easy. First, just select the file you want to upload and choose the user who will own these ads:

Then just match up the columns from your Excel spreadsheet with webClassifieds:

That’s it! Your ads will be imported into the database quickly without the need to enter them one by one.

In the latest version of our software, we’ve totally revamped the post ad process to include not only posting without being a member, but major UI improvements as well.

No registration required

The most major improvement is the ability to post an ad without being an existing member of the site. This is a great way to attract members to post ads, without forcing them to register first and post second. webClassifieds handles the posting process seamlessly, and creates an account for the user in the background in case they need to manage their ad afterwards.

New look

This version has a brand new look that’s easier and faster for your customers to use. We’ve consolidated almost everything into one page rather than having a multi-step process. Performing tasks such as uploading photos or videos is totally seamless, and can be done without leaving the page (and no page reloads too!).

Tooltips

As soon as you start typing in a field, a helpful tooltip shows up to describe the field, suggest useful points to cover, and add clarity to the posting process.

These improvements should make your site more accessible and easier to use. We hope you and your members agree!

To solve this problem, we’ve added a sleek new slideshow feature which includes all ad photos and videos. Users can now mouse over thumbnails of the uploaded photo or video, and see the larger image right above. In the case of photos, users can click to see the full size version in a new window. In the case of videos, we embed a video player right in the box so users can watch it easily.

This feature is part of an upgraded ad page that we’ve worked hard on in this release. More details to come soon!

We’ve implemented this feature very intelligently, and refine search fields are category specific. For example, if a user does a search in all categories, the search filters would look something like this:

However, let’s say that a user selects “Computers” as the search category. There are many category specific options to choose from, such as brand and condition. In this case, the filters would look something like this:

Another great example is the “Automobiles” category, where there are specific fields such as make/model, year, number of miles, etc. webClassifieds picks up all of these fields and allows users to easily filter by them:
