video resume

Video resumes are catching on like wildfire. Now your job board can be ahead of the curve with a great new feature to allow video resumes to be included in your site.

What are video resumes?

Video resumes provide job seekers a way to showcase their abilities through a video rather than the traditional resume. Since many households now have high quality webcams available, employers are starting to accept video resumes for many of their job ads. This allows people to put a face to the paper, and show off their personality and capabilities in a creative way.

How do they work?

We put a lot of thought into how video resumes would work. After doing our research, we decided to allow your users to submit a video embed tag from any popular video sharing site (such as YouTube). Many major job boards such as Jobster are handling video resumes the same way.

This works great for two reasons. First, your hosting provider doesn’t need any special system requirements to convert the video to a file format that can be played through a Flash player. YouTube handles that part for you. Second, job seekers are likely to personalize their video resume for your site. The videos can lead to backlinks or your site being mentioned, providing a new traffic stream for you.

How does this help me?

Our job board software is already advanced enough to keep up with the big guys. This new addition will really give you the extra edge you need to compete. Unlike your competition, you can provide job seekers and employers with a feature that many job boards don’t even have yet. It’s just one more great way webJobs helps distinguish your site from competitors.
