Editing a Custom Field
Previous Top Next |
| A custom field can be added to any category (at any level). Begin by following these steps:
| You will be brought to a form with four fields, two of them editable: Parent Category, Field Title, Type, Required?.
| Parent Category
| The Parent Category is the category that you are adding the custom field to. All of the subcategories of Parent Category will also inherit this field.
| Field Title
| Field Title is the name/title of the field that will show up throughout the site including on the post and view ad pages. Note that the field type cannot be changed. The reason for this is because there is no "good" way for the software to handle field changes. For example, if a field is changed from checkboxes to an input field or vice versa, there is no way to preserve existing data. As a result, webClassifieds does not allow the field type to be changed.

| Type
| There are four possible type of fields that you can create: an input box, textbox, dropdown, and checkbox. If you choose dropdown or checkbox a new entry will be created in Input Management where you will be able to modify the choices for the field.
| Required?
| This flag controls whether the user must enter a value for the field while posting an ad.
| After you are finished click the Save button.
