Making a Free Site

If you would like to run a free site, that is a site where members can post ads and use ad features for free, you can do it one of several ways. This section of the documentation describes the procedure for creating a free site.

The easiest way to create a free site is by using the Default Billing Plan. This plan is assigned to all categories by default. This means that all categories that use the Default Billing Plan will use the pricing scheme of this plan. By default the Default Billing Plan does not make the site free. Therefore, to make the site free you will need to modify the Default Billing Plan.

To modify the Default Billing Plan go to Site Management -> Billing Management -> Manage Billing Plans. Here you should see a list of your site billing plans. By default the Default Billing Plan should be listed first. To modify the plan click on the Edit icon (icon_edit). A new page will appear containing all of the Default Billing Plan's prices and options. Now all that you need to do is set the values for all of the prices to 0 (zero). Note that you must actually enter the number 0 (zero) into the fee fields, leaving the field blank will result in an error.

You will also need to set the price for the Listing Fees table, Listing Percentages table, and Listing Lengths table. To do this click on each of the links for "Configure Listing Fees", "Configure Listing Percentages", and "Configure Listing Lengths". Each of the popup windows will contain several rows of data. To set the fee for each row to 0 (zero) click on the Edit icon (icon_edit) for that row. Change the value for the fee to 0 (zero). Note that you must actually enter the number 0 (zero) into the fee fields, leaving the field blank will result in an error. When you have changed the value click on the Save button. Once all of the fees have been changed to 0 (zero) you can close this popup window. The process is similar for the three fees tables.

When you have completed this process your Default Billing Plan should like like the following:

free_site1

The Listing Fees table should look like the following:

free_site2

The Listing Percentages table should look like the following:

free_site3

The Listing Fees table should look like the following:

free_site4

Once you have configured all of the values as shown you can click the Save button. You have now made your Default Billing Plan a free billing plan. As long as all of your categories are assigned to this plan your site will be free. Members will be able to post ads, with any features, for free.
