Live Chat Plugin
The Live Chat Plugin adds the ability to let your users create and chat in chatrooms with webDate software.
Modification
When installed the Live Chat Plugin adds entries to the Plug-Ins menu:
Clicking this link takes you to the Live Chat Management page.
From this page you can select the Live Chat Settings, Room Management page or the Chatting Users page.
Live Chat Settings
The Live Chat Settings displays a form to customize the Live Chat plugin.
Chat Configuration Descriptions:
Background color:
Sets the background color for the Chat Room selection window.
User timeout:
Set, in seconds, how long a user can remain idle before being logged out of
the Live Chat service.
Message expiration time:
Set, in seconds, how long messages remain in the chat window before
being removed.
Room expiration time:
Set, in seconds, how long Chat Rooms will remain in the Char Room selection
window when there are no members in the Chat Room.
Auto delete rooms created by admin:
If this setting is checked, Chat Rooms created by the admin will be immediately
removed when the admin leaves the room.
Chat refresh rate:
Set, in seconds, how often chat messages are refreshed.
Members list refresh rate:
Set, in seconds, how often the chat room members list is refreshed.
Buddy list refresh rate:
Set, in seconds, how often the buddy list popup window is refreshed.
Chat message time format:
Sets the format to use when displaying the create date and time of a Chat Room.
More information on valid characters that can be used with this setting can be
found in the time_format.txt file in your chat/ directory.
Room time format:
Sets the format to use when displaying the create date and time of a Chat Room
in the Chat Room selection window. More information on valid characters that can
be used with this setting can be found in the time_format.txt file in your chat/ directory.
Allow only paying members:
Set this to allow only member with a paid subscription to access the Live Chat
service.
Admin Live Chat Account:
Set the username of the admin Live Chat account.
User colored usernames in chat window:
If this is set usernames will be colored in the chat window, one color for your
own username and another color for everyone else. The two colors used are
the same as the colors used by the IM service.
Use Profile images in the member list window:
If this is set entries in the member list will also include a thumbnail of the
member's profile image.
Use Profile images in the buddy list window:
If this is set entries in the buddy list will also include a thumbnail of the
member's profile image.
Room Management
The Chatroom Management page shows a detailed list of all the chatrooms that have been created for your dating site along with a set of administrative tools. The list shows the name of the room, the username that created the room, the number of users chatting in the room, and the date/time the room was created.
Administrators have the ability to see who is in a particular room, clear all users from a given room, and the ability to create/delete rooms.
Clicking the "Who's Online" button from the Chatroom Management page will bring you to a list of all the users in one particular room. Using this method you have the ability to remove any one user from any given room.
Chatting Users
This page shows a complete list of all users chatting in every room on your site. You have the ability to force any user out of a chatroom by clicking the "Remove user from chatroom" icon.
Accessing Live Chat From The Frontend
To access Live Chat from the frontend users must be logged into your site. After logging in, click on "Search" from the site navigation menu, then click on "Live Chat" from the text links at the top of the page.
