Setting Permissions (CHMOD)

In order for webDate to function properly the permissions on certain files and folders must be set properly. In most cases, this means setting permissions to 755 or 777. There are many file permissions that need to be set. We will go over how to set permissions on just one file, but the procedure is the same for every other file or folder.

To set permissions you must first be connected. Refer to the previous section on how to connect to your server.

1	Locate the file on the server that you need to change the permissions on.
2	Right click on the file or folder and select Properties / CHMOD from the menu. You can also use F7 as a shortcut.
3	In the field labeled Permissions enter the appropriate value (755 or 777).
4	Click OK when you are finished.
